The Sidcha App

You know how valuable I consider sidchas. If you don’t have one, I recommend you create one or two for yourself.

I’m working on sidcha.com so stay tuned.

In the meantime, I thought about an app for sidchas. Here is my main thought. When you do something daily, you don’t have to keep track of it. You don’t have to compare your performance with your friends’. You don’t have to do all the things people do to try to start and keep habits.

In fact, I’d say those practices run counter to the point of sidchas. The point of sidchas is you do them. The result is a foundation for your life. Whatever challenge you want to take on, sidchas help you. No matter what problems come your way, sidchas give you the stability and ground to handle them. Make them challenging enough and keep them up enough and that foundation will be like bedrock.

Side things like graphs, charts, daily reminders, and so on reduce your sidcha achievement. The point is you do them. If you don’t know how, you do the best you can and figure out how to improve yourself. If you want to meditate daily, just start. If you don’t know how, you do what you can, then research, talk to people, and so on. The point is do it yourself. If anyone anywhere figured out how to do it, you can too.

So the sidcha app. I’m torn between saying there will never be a sidcha app, since it would undermine the point, and making an app that does one thing. When you use it it says

Get off your damn phone and do your sidcha!

I’ll figure it out.
