Union Square display just up and beautiful!

The display looks amazing. It only took most of a year and fifteen hours today to put it up — part of the joy of making art. That and it’s much bigger, brighter, and in a higher traffic area than the Bryant Park display. People seem to love it already. I have too many people to thank, but tops include my stepfather Bill, who built a major part of it, and the students whose names are on it for making beautiful images. Many people at MTA Arts for Transit (they’re team players and ask not to be named individually but they should be), Parsons the New School, Submedia, and, of course our Kickstarter supporters.

As expected, we’ll have troubleshooting in the coming days. We’ll have an official opening most likely Tuesday. Anyone who wants to see it earlier can contact me or anyone else in the group to show it off or just see in themselves. It’s public art, after all, and we want the world to see it.

Pictures of the installation process and of the full display will come soon.

For now, it’s been a fifteen hour day of lifting, programming, engineering, dust, fumes, and more. Time to relax and enjoy. We look forward to showing it off to you.

Here are a bunch of pictures from the installation. More to come — just getting it up quick before heading out on a Saturday night to relax. Also, click the pictures for larger versions that have been retouched.
