More reasons burpees are lazy

People describe the burpees I do as a lot and hard. While the number, approaching 100,000, is big, for six-and-a-half years, it’s not that many.

I keep trying to reconcile the disparity.

Here’s how I look at it. If burpees are the single best exercise, which fitness experts have said, and if they aren’t the best, they’re close, then doing them is an efficient way to stay fit.

In other words, burpees are the least I can do for a given level of fitness.

If you want the same fitness and exercise less efficiently, you’re doing more work than I am. I’m relatively lazy.

If you’re comfortable with less fitness, then my burpees aren’t the difference, the overall fitness is. I’m not comfortable with less fitness.

So I’m basically at the least level of fitness I could fall asleep at night with and doing the least work I can to stay there.

Since they also develop discipline, which I wouldn’t have except for what I develop, like any other skill, I also have a minimum level of discipline, which they help me keep. Anything less and I couldn’t sleep at night.

So, again, they’re an efficient way to help me achieve this goal. If you develop discipline another way, I suspect you work harder at it. If you’re comfortable with less discipline, then our values differ, and it’s not that the burpees are a lot.
