More images of North Korean monuments…

Some science or technology museum building

I think this sphere and orbit building was part of a technology museum on the road to and from the airport. We didn’t enter it though we went near it. I suspect it’s not in active uses.

A church

We saw this church, one of the few religious things outside of the government’s state sponsored religion. I don’t know if it has active serviced or is just for show.

Anchor at the Barrage

This anchor statue was on a building at the top of a hill over a barrage (I had to look it up too). I guess it once also acted as a lighthouse, but I’m not sure.

Workers on a roof

Here we see workers on the roof of a big new building under construction. I’m not sure what the building is for — maybe a convention center — but the next two pictures show more of the construction.

The point of this picture is to show the apparent absence of any safety equipment whatsoever.

More construction of a big new building

More construction of the building from the previous picture, along the Taedong River.

More construction of a big new building

More construction of the building from the previous two pictures, along the Taedong River. I think we were approaching the flower exposition, near the Juche Tower, and not far from the workers’ monument.Another view of the Ryugyong HotelAnother view of the Ryugyong Hotel.
