The point of democracy, in my opinion

  • Post category:Education

The point of democracy is not to win, but to recognize we all disagree on some things, so to figure out how to live together despite the differences.

Is this view obvious to everyone and too obvious to say? I don’t think it’s deep, but I don’t remember hearing it said, not that I’d look for it. I can also imagine not many people not having thought this thought. I think many people would agree with it in principle but act differently.

amen to this… it is clear now, why the dems are always derided for missing the mark on their messaging, or lack thereof… it really does appear as if the scales of political proclivity, from a societal perspective, tips with equivalent or comparable force if pushed one way or the other.. or something to that effect… whatever that means… maybe you should should run for mayor today and then emperor tomorrow!

I believe I’d make a great mayor (and emperor), but remained focused on changing culture around sustainability. My main role models for changing culture worked outside government most of their careers: MLK, Mandela, and their peers.
