Diaspora
Connect with or follow me on Diaspora here.
Diaspora is a peer-too-peer social network where you own your data and no corporation stands between you and your friends. It’s small and mainly populated by geeks now, like Wikipedia was small and mainly populated with geeky articles when I started promoting it. Now Wikipedia is big and hardly anyone uses traditional encyclopedias. Soon Diaspora will be big and hardly anyone will use centralized social networks.
For background, here’s Wikipedia’s page on Diaspora and here’s another page explaining Diaspora and comparing it to other social networks. And another.
Email me for an invitation if you want.
I deactivated my Facebook account after they made themselves too creepy for me. For social networking I use Diaspora. In Diaspora you own your data.

I still use twitter, but I post there through Diaspora.

Josh-welcome home! did you go on the north korea crusie that is now featured on the new york times website? talk Later-Rob
I didn’t take that cruise, if you mean this — http://www.nytimes.com/2011/09/14/world/asia/north-korea-seeks-to-lure-tourists-to-holiday-cruises.html?_r=1&scp=2&sq=%22north%20korea%22&st=cse — but I do highly recommend visiting North Korea.
I don’t know any place like it. I’ll be blogging on it extensively soon.
