Does knowing history undoom us from repeating it?
I keep hearing people say that in all their lives they’ve never seen things as bad as they are—usually about politics, but sometimes on the environment, some aspect of culture or society, and so on.
People have been saying that as long as I can remember.
It makes me think of the phrase that those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
I’m starting to conclude that whether we know the past or not, we’ll repeat it anyway.
