Following up on my post yesterday about Buy Nothing Season, I came up with a gift idea that costs nothing, takes almost no time to prepare, and only uses a sheet of scrap paper. I don’t know about you, but I would love to receive it. I think it would build a relationship.
I doubt I came up with it. More likely I heard it a while ago and it popped into my head.
The gift
Take a piece of scrap paper. Divide it into twelve pieces. Write on each the following, or what’s appropriate to your relationship: “Good for one X within 24 hours of redeeming, no questions asked.”, where X can be
- Shoulder rub
- Full body massage
- Home-made dinner
- Listening to you in an argument without arguing back
- Evening alone
- Going with your pick of restaurant, movie, TV show, etc
etc.
I pick twelve pieces so your partner can redeem them on average monthly. They can give you this gift in return with their X‘s for you to redeem with them..

Time to make: a few minutes.
