One of people’s most common bluster to keep polluting and depleting is to blather about educating kids or having faith in the next generation while not acting themselves.
A moment’s thought will reveal that even the person blathering about educating others or having faith in others doesn’t believe in the strategy of their own words. They’re just saying whatever will distract themselves and others that they’re violating their own values.
First, they were once the next generation that older people blathered on about having faith in. They were educated and now aren’t acting.
But more to the point: who can do more today, an adult or a kid? Who has more resources, you or a five year old?
Even more: if you tell others to act later while you don’t act today, you’re teaching them to do what you do: not to act but to imply that others should act. You’re educating kids alright: not to act. That is, to be like you.
