See me with Rob and Andrew on After Dark: “When Sustainability Meets MAHA And Making English The Official Language”
Longtime readers know Rob, Andrew, and I appear on each other’s podcasts and programs. They strongly support Trump. I strongly support sustainability leadership. Many people who support Trump or act on the environment consider the other group the enemy. We are friends.
I recently appeared on their podcast-now-videocast: When Sustainability Meets MAHA And Making English The Official Language. It was evening and I disconnected my apartment from the electric grid so was just lit from a battery-powered light. (If the video appears small, click the link above for the original post.)
The show notes:
In the realm of sustainability and health, two influential voices—Joshua Spodek and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.—offer compelling perspectives that resonate with today’s growing desire for meaningful change. Spodek, a leadership expert, professor, and host of the award-winning podcast This Sustainable Life, champions a personal, hands-on approach to environmental stewardship. Meanwhile, Kennedy, recently sworn in as the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services under President Donald Trump, drives the “Make America Healthy Again” (MAHA) movement, aiming to tackle chronic disease and systemic health challenges.
Spodek’s philosophy, rooted in his Spodek Method, encourages people to tap into their intrinsic motivations to adopt sustainable habits—like reducing waste or cutting energy use—not out of guilt but for the joy and purpose it brings from one’s values. With a PhD in astrophysics and an MBA from Columbia, he blends science and leadership to show that small, consistent choices can ripple into cultural transformation. On his podcast, he’s interviewed hundreds of leaders, guiding them to act on their environmental values, proving sustainability isn’t about perfection but progress.
Enter RFK Jr., whose MAHA agenda seeks to overhaul America’s health landscape by targeting chronic diseases tied to diet, chemicals in foods, and corporate influence. Confirmed as HHS Secretary in February 2025, Kennedy has pledged to confront Big Food and Big Pharma, advocating for cleaner food systems and fewer toxins. His vision, while controversial due to his vaccine skepticism, aligns with Spodek’s emphasis on personal agency—both reject top-down dogma in favor of empowering individuals to reclaim control over their lives.
