338: Abbey Ryan, part 1: Technique and Mastery Through Practice

on May 13, 2020 in Podcast

I consider leadership a performance art and the environment the most beautiful thing around. Abbey and I talked about beauty, art, performance, teaching, technique, craft, and everything that goes into mastery. She has little experience with burpees. I have little with painting, but we connected on mastery. I think I can safely say we both look forward to our next conversation. Just after stopping recording we both commented on how[…] Keep reading →

Here is the video from my webinar last week on life-changing habits during lock-down (and the rest of your life). Wondering if you should watch? Most relevant now, I did it at no cost, not needing[…] Keep reading →

Beat my 2k record by 4 seconds

on March 1, 2020 in Fitness

Today I competed in my first indoor rowing competition—called the CRASH-B sprints—here in Boston. I achieved my two main goals—to beat my personal best and not to finish last. For context, everyone rows 2 kilometers on an indoor rower. The world record is below 5:40. For men under 165 pounds, the “lightweight” division, the record is slower and for ones pushing 50 slower still. I beat my 2k record by[…] Keep reading →

Exercise friends

on February 26, 2020 in Fitness

How did you learn the exercises you do? Did you watch videos or read about them in a book? I bet you learned them from someone. Do any of them still remind you of the person who taught you them? Most exercises remind me of the people who taught me them. It feels good to think about friends, so in the hopes of leading you to think more about it,[…] Keep reading →

I’m honored to give my third TEDx talk February 29th at TEDxConnecticutCollege.
