100,000 burpees

on September 29, 2017 in Fitness, Habits, SIDCHAs

I hit 100,000 burpees a couple weeks ago, on September 5th, if I remember right. Each ten thousand felt like a big milestone. Hitting six figures felt like it should be a biggest milestone yet. Instead I’m writing this minor post. It’s the biggest number with the most zeros, but the greater accomplishment is to see them like brushing my teeth—not that big a deal, just something I do. I[…] Keep reading →

The massive power of habitually doing what you don’t have to do: The Ziglar Show interview

on September 20, 2017 in Audio, Habits, Leadership, SIDCHAs

An early memory is of my mother, when she moved into sales and more entrepreneurship, having Zig Ziglar books. This was the late 70s. I was in grade school and knew nothing of business or this guy, except his memorable name. I’m pleased to announce that the Ziglar show, featuring Zig Ziglar’s son Tom and Kevin Miller posted an interview of me, “The massive power of habitually doing what you[…] Keep reading →

Why I get out of bed and make it in under a minute every day

on August 10, 2017 in Exercises, Habits, SIDCHAs

Each morning since November, from my alarm going off to my turning it off, I’ve gotten up, made my bed, and crossed the room to where my phone is. I wrote more about it in “How I Wake Up in Under 1 Minute Every Day: After decades of morning sloth, for 7 months I’ve gotten out of bed in under 60 seconds each day and loved it” (EDIT: and ““Olympic[…] Keep reading →

Fame for my no-packaging no-fiber-removed food… and cold showers

on August 3, 2017 in Fitness, Nature, SIDCHAs

If you know me, you know I’ve taking cold showers for years. You may also know a big part of my inspiration was Joel Runyon, whose posts on cold shower therapy (search for my name at that link) motivated me to take cold showers every day for thirty days, which I now do every fourth day. I’ve sponsored his tremendous 777 challenge, to run 7 ultramarathons on 7 continents to[…] Keep reading →

Nelson Mandela on sidchas

on July 19, 2017 in Exercises, Fitness, Freedom, Leadership, SIDCHAs

Yesterday was the 100th anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s birth. I’ve waited to share something I discovered reading his autobiography a few months ago. First some context. It’s the day of your release. You’re a revolutionary, fighting Apartheid, imprisoned for 27 years, much of it in an 8 foot by 7 foot cell or, if outside, breaking rocks. Meanwhile, you’ve become a global celebrity. Over 200 million people watched your London[…] Keep reading →

A Millennial Making America Clean Again

on July 4, 2017 in Habits, Inc.com, Leadership, SIDCHAs

My Independence Day post on Inc. today, “A Millennial Making America Clean Again,” begins A Millennial Making America Clean Again He’s doing a simple, small, short term act that makes a difference and is leading to more. Will you follow? I love Independence Day. I don’t eat hot dogs, nor do I care that much for fireworks. I celebrate July 4th by reading and writing about influential Americans and American[…] Keep reading →

More reasons burpees are lazy

on July 3, 2017 in Fitness, Habits, SIDCHAs

People describe the burpees I do as a lot and hard. While the number, approaching 100,000, is big, for six-and-a-half years, it’s not that many. I keep trying to reconcile the disparity. Here’s how I look at it. If burpees are the single best exercise, which fitness experts have said, and if they aren’t the best, they’re close, then doing them is an efficient way to stay fit. In other[…] Keep reading →
