New resting pulse: 38 bpm

I got my annual checkup yesterday. They took my vital statistics. Here was the final pulse reading from the ekg:

Here’s the full ekg page:

Reading 1: the blood pressure machine

As usual, my resting heart rate was lower than they’re used to. The nurse taking my blood pressure saw my pulse was showing 42 bpm while the blood pressure machine was doing its pressure cycle. I was looking forward to taking a picture of that rate, when she started asking me questions, the ones they always do: if I run marathons, bike, or swim. When I answered, the rate increased to 45, which stayed on the screen after finishing the blood pressure cycle.

This image came before the ones above. I was mildly annoyed not to get the lower rate, but still looked forward to posting the picture here.

I guess because I kept saying I don’t run, bike, or swim, and that even rowing I only do once or twice a month, and no matter how much I told her I do burpees, which are high intensity intervals, twice daily, they had to worry if something unhealthy was at the root. When the doctor came in, he asked if I’d had an ekg. I couldn’t remember what machines people had used on me, so I couldn’t say, though I did tell him other doctors checked something about my heart since they see it as low.

He also asked if I run, bike, or swim. I told him I do burpees, which are high intensity intervals, twice daily, but I don’t think he knew what burpees or high intensity intervals are, so he recommended doing the ekg. As usual, I asked if my insurance covered it. As usual, he said it would probably be covered, but you never know.

Reading 2: the ekg

Anyway, they had me lie back on the inspection bed/table and hooked up the electrodes to my chest and ankle. While they did, I prepared more than I did for the blood pressure reading. I focused on my breath, avoided talking, and tried to breathe slower. I couldn’t breathe much slower because the nurse took so long connecting the electrodes.

The doctor said the ekg readout showed no problems and they let me take a picture of the screen.

Blood pressure: 109 / 75

I don’t know exactly what the blood pressure numbers mean, but when I look up 109 / 75, the pages say it’s healthy.

Body Mass Index: 21.2

They weighed me. Wearing socks, shoes, jeans, a belt, a long-sleeved shirt, and a sweater, plus my wallet, the scale said 168 pounds. The nurse put 165 pounds in the record. Since I’m 6 foot 2 inches, my BMI is 21.2, which is also healthy.

How

I don’t belong to a gym, nor use a trainer, nor pay for any fitness anything. I own five kettle bells and a rowing machine, which I got used. I think that’s all my fitness equipment. Plus I’m vegan and avoid doof. All these things save time and money.

All my fitness is in my page My sidchas, standard procedures, and preferences.
